Quantitative complements are expressions used after the verb to indicate the number of times the action takes place.  

Common errors

Errors in the structure of the sentence with a quantitative complement.

1. Incorrect position of the phrase expressing the number of times the action happens:

  • placement of the frequency expression in the preverbal position,

*去年我几次去过北京。
去年我去过几次北京。

*去年我幾次去過北京。
去年我去過幾次北京。

  • placement of the frequency expression after the object represented by common noun,

*我在那家饭馆吃过饭一次
我在那家饭馆吃过一次饭。

*我在那家飯館喫過飯一次
我在那家飯館喫過一次飯。

  • placement of the frequency expression before the pronoun object.

*我只见过两次她。
我只见过她两次

*我只見過兩次她。
我只見過她兩次

2. Incorrect position of aspectual particles:

  • placement of an aspectual particle and a frequency expression after the verb phrase.

*他们见面了一次
他们见了一次面。

*他們見面了一次
他們見了一次面。

3. Incorrect position of adverbs of scope referring to the number of the repetitions of the action:

  • placement of an adverb of scope before the frequency expression (after the verb).

*北京我去过只一次
北京我只去过一次

*北京我去過只一次
北京我只去過一次

*我坐过只一次飞机。
我只坐过一次飞机。

*我坐過只一次飛機。
我只坐過一次飛機。
