Common errors

1. Incorrect position

Learners might place the verb before 好 or 难/難:

*这本书懂好。
这本书好懂。

*這本書懂好。
這本書好懂。

2. Using an object after the compound

好/难/難 + verb are intransitive compounds, that function like adjectives and do not take a direct object. The object that is being evaluated therefore takes a topic position at the beginning of the sentence. However, learners might mistakenly place an object after the compound:

*好用这个电脑。
这个电脑好用。

*好用這個電腦。
這個電腦好用。

*我觉得很好学中文。
我觉得中文很好学。

*我覺得很好學中文。
我覺得中文很好學。

3. Pragmatic error or inappropriate usage

Compounds with 好 and 难/難 followed by a verb are commonly used, however not all verbs work naturally in this structure. This might confuse learners and lead to awkward or unnatural usage.

With a few execeptions like 好懂, the structure is rarely used with abstract and cognitive verbs like 决定 or 考虑.

For beginners it is suggested to stick to using the structure with high-frequency compounds, like 好写, 好吃, 难看/難看 or 难学/難学,  and rephrase others with 容易 + verb instead of 好 and 很难 + verb or 不容易 instead of 难/難.
